Awards & Campaigns IACP Excellence in Technology Award Program Overview: The IACP Excellence in Technology Award Program will recognize a law enforcement agency's superior achievement and innovation in the field of communication and information technology. The program is an international competition that is open to local, tribal, state, provincial, federal, and multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agencies. Process: Process: The award program is managed and coordinated by the IACP Technology Center. Nominations may be made by any law enforcement agency through a web-based application on the IACP Technology Clearinghouse Web site. Four awards (small, medium, large, and multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agencies) will be made annually for each of the three achievement areas (only one achievement area may be selected for each application): 1. Innovation in Information Technology - This category highlights the achievement of an agency in implementing an innovative information technology that enhances the effectiveness of law enforcement. 2. Response to Computer Related Crime - This category recognizes an innovative or highly effective approach to computer-related crime, including programs and case-specific achievements by an agency, organization, or through collaborative efforts. 3. Excellence in Law Enforcement Communications and Interoperability - This category recognizes an agency's implementation of wireless based technology to improve mission critical voice communications, interoperability and/or information/data sharing. Agency Size Competitive Categories: Small: 50 or fewer sworn personnel Judging: Applications will be judged by a panel that is comprised of information technology committee and section representatives. Awards will be presented to the chief executive officer of each winning agency at the 115th Annual IACP Conference. The winners will be showcased in Police Chief Magazine and other IACP membership forums.
